A car turntable is a platform capable of rotating a full 360 degrees continuously. Many people are familiar with its use, most commonly in commercial settings such as auto shops and trade shows. However, some customers also install them at home to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces or where turning is otherwise difficult.

Car rotary platform are typically constructed from steel and designed with load capacities ranging from 500 kg to 10 tons. Diameters vary from as small as 2.5 meters to as large as 30 meters. For parking applications, a 4-meter-diameter model with a 3-ton capacity is especially popular, as it accommodates most car models on the market. These units are usually priced between $4,000 and $5,000. The rotation speed can also be adjusted according to user requirements. Both clockwise and counterclockwise are possible
By drive method, car turntables are generally divided into two types: friction drive and pin-gear motor drive.
Friction drive: This system typically uses 3–6 motors (or more, depending on the diameter of the turntable). Even if one motor fails, the turntable can continue to operate. Each motor is equipped with a wheeled rubber belt that makes contact with the base of the turntable. As the motor rotates the belt, friction between the belt and the turntable base drives rotation. The overall height is usually about 185 mm.

Pin-gear motor drive: This system relies on a single motor and a mechanical gear mechanism. Multiple meshing gears rotate in the same direction, transmitting power from the motor to the turntable. The overall height is typically about 311 mm.

Installation preferences vary depending on the customer's site conditions. For direct ground installations with a slope, friction drive systems are generally chosen. For pit installations, customers often select pin-gear motor drive systems, with the top surface finished in marble or wood flooring for a seamless look with the surrounding floor.
Car turntables can be installed both indoors and outdoors. Even with indoor use, regular maintenance is essential. When not in operation, the power supply should be disconnected-especially in outdoor installations. To protect against rain and snow, it is best to install a cover over the control box. If unusual noises occur, stop use immediately and perform an inspection. Any irregular movement should also be addressed without delay. Always keep the wheels and tracks free of debris, and lubricate key components regularly according to usage frequency.
